ABOUT VCS
More Than a Competition
Founded in 2024, Vice City Showdown is Miami's premier collegiate Bhangra competition, bringing together teams from across the country to celebrate Punjabi culture through world-class performance, community, and hospitality. Our mission is to give college students a platform to showcase their hard work, represent their communities, and build lasting connections, while bringing the South Florida community together through Bhangra and the arts.
How It Started
Vice City Showdown was born out of a group of friends on Hurricane Bhangra at the University of Miami who spent way too much time listening to mixes, watching sets, and talking about Bhangra. After COVID, we watched a lot of collegiate competitions disappear, leaving college teams with fewer opportunities to perform and compete. We knew firsthand how much work students put into their teams while balancing classes, clubs, fundraising, practices, and everything else that comes with college. What started as a joke about running our own competition slowly became something real. We wanted to create a platform built for college teams, bring Bhangra back to South Florida, and share Punjabi culture with the community we call home.

We built VCS to create the platform we wanted to see: one that celebrates and prioritizes college teams, brings Bhangra back to South Florida, and shares our culture with the community we love.
