What is Vice City Showdown?
Vice City Showdown is Miami’s premier collegiate Bhangra competition aiming to host teams from across the nation for a weekend that allows performers to celebrate their culture and solidify connections with one another over a shared passion. As a non-profit organization we hope to bring together members of our community to help build a cultural unity within the South Florida area.
What is Bhangra?
Bhangra is a vibrant and energetic folk dance originating from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. Characterized by its lively beats, dynamic movements, and colorful attire, Bhangra has become a global symbol of celebration and joy. Traditionally performed during harvest festivals, it now features prominently in various cultural and social events worldwide. Today, many universities spread across the United States have bhangra teams that travel all over to compete and celebrate their culture.
Our Mission
Vice City Showdown aims to promote and celebrate Punjabi culture through showcasing some of the nation’s top collegiate bhangra talent. Through our competition, we strive to create a memorable experience for participants and audiences alike. We hope to foster a deep appreciation for Bhangra, encourage cultural exchange, and support artistic excellence in the vibrant city of Miami.
